Child Labor: The Indiana
Child Labor poster has been updated to reflect that sixteen-year-old
teens can work 40 hours during non-school weeks and until 11 p.m. on
nights followed by a school day. Seventeen-year-old teens no longer
have restricted work hours on days not followed by a school day. Effective Date: September, 2015
Fair Employment: The Indiana Department of Labor has released a new Fair Employment poster that must be displayed by employers. Employers are now prohibited from discriminating against employees due to their veteran status. Effective Date: July, 2014
The Family and Medical Leave Act: Has been revised to reflect the changes caused by the recently approved rule. The definition of "Veteran" has been revised to include both those who serve and those discharged in the past 5 years (previously it was only those who served). The explicit definition of "Serious Injury or Illness" was removed as well, replaced by a notice that there are differences between the definition of "Serious Injury or Illness" for a service member or veteran, and "Serious Health Condition" under the FMLA. Effective Date: March 8, 2013.
