Your State's New Minimum Wage Poster is now available to ship!

Child Labor Law
The law now also protects people under the age of 18 in agricultural jobs. Instead of listing particular occupations for the restriction of age groups, conditions are now in place:

"... occupations declared hazardous and jeopardize their health, well-being or educational opportunities" for 14 and 15 year olds.
"... not in hazardous jobs" for 16 and 17 year olds.
The express notification that minors under the age of 14 are not allowed to work in most businesses has been removed. Since the new layout does not include any guidelines for this age group, it may be assumed this is still true. In any case, contact the Bureau of Labor Standards for more information. Contact information is included on the notice.

Minimum Wage
The Maine Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect an increase to the minimum wage rate. The minimum wage increased from $7.50 per hour to $9.00 per hour effective January 7, 2017. The poster was also updated with minimum wage requirements for overtime exempt employees.

Unemployment Insurance
The Maine Unemployment Insurance poster has been updated to reflect that individuals filing for unemployment benefits are required by law to be registered wit the Maine JobLink.

Mandatory Federal Poster Update!

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), aka Minimum Wage, notice has been revised based on upcoming changes to the rules. Among other minor revisions are three major revisions. First, the new notice advises that nursing mothers who are subject to the overtime requirements of the FLSA be provided reasonable break time to express breast milk and a place to do so, other than a bathroom, which is shielded from view and free from intrusion by coworkers or the public. Second, the enforcement provisions have been significantly revised explaining additional penalties for violations of the law. Third, the new notice addresses the misclassification of workers as "independent contractors" when they should be considered employees under the law.

The Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) notice has also been revised. There is a new QR Code and other cosmetic changes. Despite the lack of significance of these changes, the Department is deeming it a mandatory update.

This is a substantive change and an updated Federal V2.0 poster is required.
