The NEW Minimum Wage Poster is ready to ship!

New Minimum Wage Update
The Vermont Department of Labor has released an update to the minimum wage poster to reflect an increase to the state's minimum wage. The minimum wage will increase from $8.73 an hour to $9.15 an hour effective January 1, 2015, $9.60 on January 1, 2016, $10.00 on January 1, 2017, and $10.50 on January 1, 2018. The basic wage rate for service and tipped employees also increased to $4.58 an hour, with a maximum tip credit allowance of $4.57 an hour effective January 1, 2015.
Effective Date: January 1, 2017

Earned Sick Time
The Vermont Earned Sick Time poster has been released by the Vermont Department of Labor. The new law requires employers to provide employees with at least 24 hours (or 3 days) of paid sick leave.
Effective Date: January 3, 2017


Mandatory Federal Poster Update

FLSA and EPPA
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), aka Minimum Wage, notice has been revised based on upcoming changes to the rules. Among other minor revisions are three major revisions. First, the new notice advises that nursing mothers who are subject to the overtime requirements of the FLSA be provided reasonable break time to express breast milk and a place to do so, other than a bathroom, which is shielded from view and free from intrusion by coworkers or the public. Second, the enforcement provisions have been significantly revised explaining additional penalties for violations of the law. Third, the new notice addresses the misclassification of workers as "independent contractors" when they should be considered employees under the law.

The Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) notice has also been revised. There is a new QR Code and other cosmetic changes. Despite the lack of significance of these changes, the Department is deeming it a mandatory update.

This is a substantive change and an updated Federal V2.0 poster is required.

Effective date: July 2016

Workers' Compensation Update
Vermont has released a new "Employers Reinstatement Liability" notice. The new notice is completely reformatted and includes new information. Among the changes are the altering of the title from "Employers Reinstatement Liability" to "Workers' Compensation Reinstatement Rights." Also, added is the clarification that the law applies to all employers who employ 10 or more employees of whom at least 10 work more than 15 hours a week. New address and email contact information for the Workers’ Compensation Division was added as well.
Effective date: May 2015
