Many retailers have stopped or are being pressured to stop promoting the Trump brand of products—from men’s neckties to women’s apparel and accessories to wine. And, now there’s the growing threat of general strikes and walkouts among those who are opposed to President Donald Trump’s policies.

February 17 marked the first of many “A Day Without” protests scheduled across the country. The “Day Without Immigrants” protest yielded dozens of employee terminations in Florida, New York, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, NBC News has reported.

A Day Without Women protest is planned for March 8, and another Day Without Immigrants protest may be scheduled for May 1, which could turn into a general strike, too, since that date is International Workers’ Day.

There’s a good possibility one or more of your workers will want to attend one of these or other political protests. And, from HR’s perspective, the thought of workers going out on strike to protest raises many important legal issues—issues that you should get ahead of so you’re prepared in the event your workplace takes a direct hit from a walkout or strike.
