Learn how to prevent employee use of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media from damaging your organization's reputation and how to legally monitor your "plugged-in" staff by participating in the all-new HR Hero audio conference, Employee Blogs and Tweets Gone Wild: How to Stop the Damage to Your Organization.

The perils of Web 2.0 in the workplace...

  • Vodafone recently suspended an employee for posting an obscene tweet on Vodafone's official Twitter customer service account.
  • Virgin Atlantic just fired 13 cabin crew members after they insulted passengers on Facebook and claimed the planes were full of cockroaches.
  • A server at California Pizza Kitchen was fired for complaining about the restaurant's new uniforms. After the termination, the employee then retaliated with a critical YouTube video of the company.

In just 90 minutes, you'll get plain-English answers to such questions as:

  • When is an employee’s social media content considered free speech? And when are blogs considered libel?
  • How should HR respond if our employees use Facebook or other social media to reveal company proprietary information?
  • What are the pros and cons of investigating a potential hire’s social media activities?
  • Could our organization be at risk for a negligent hiring claim due to an employee’s online behavior?
  • What's the best way to structure policies governing our employees’ online behavior?
  • What are the laws that govern employee online behavior -- and HR's? Examples include the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Communications Decency Act.
  • What if an employee is endorsing his or her own product online? What are the legal risks?
